Not a function. Not a playlist on shuffle. The songs everyone needs, played the way they should be — and then a night that builds into something people actually talk about afterwards.
"I handed in my notice after ten years in corporate IT. Life is too short not to do the things you actually love."
James Sayers — on why he's here
About James
"I started DJing in 1998. Career happened, family happened — but the music never really stopped."
I spent thirty years in corporate IT, the last decade at the same company. In early 2026 I walked away — deliberately, happily — to do the things that actually matter to me. Music has been one of them since the start.
I play across the full spectrum — and I mean that literally. The classics that every wedding needs: Motown, disco, soul, the sing-along anthems that bring every generation onto the floor at once. Then, as the night finds its feet, something with a bit more energy — funk, house, whatever the room is asking for. I'm not a jukebox, and I'm not a niche act. I watch the floor, I read the crowd, and I adjust. The goal is always the same: get people dancing who had absolutely no intention of dancing.
Based in Bridport, Dorset. Covering the South West, Hampshire, and beyond for the right event.
Why Book James
No awkward gaps, no jarring transitions. Every set has an arc — a beginning, a build, and a floor-filling finish. It sounds like a night out, not a playlist.
Before I arrive, I know your music. I'll listen to your references, ask the right questions, and make sure the set reflects who you both are — not who I think you should be.
If your venue has a PA, I plug straight into it — clean, fast, no drama. If you need the full setup — speakers, lights, the works — I bring everything. Either way, it's sorted before you've even thought about it.
Every wedding needs certain songs — the ones that empty the bar and fill the floor, that your nan knows every word to and your mates lose their minds at. Those are non-negotiable. What happens after is where it gets interesting.
I'm not doing this to fill a calendar. I left a career for it. That matters — it means I care as much about your night as you do, and probably stay later than I'm supposed to.
I work closely with some of the South West's most respected wedding planners and venue stylists. Introductions available — ask when you get in touch.
Packages
Whether your venue has everything in place or you need the full setup delivered and ready to go, there's an option that works. Not sure which fits? Just ask — it's usually obvious once we've had a quick chat about your venue.
Package One
Perfect for venues with their own PA system in place. I bring my professional DJ kit, plug into your existing setup, and handle everything from there.
Package Two
The complete package — I arrive with everything needed for a fully self-contained evening. No venue PA required. Set up, sound, and atmosphere, all taken care of.
Not sure?
Every wedding is different. If you're not sure what your venue has, or you want something bespoke — drinks reception only, ceremony music, late extension — just get in touch.
All packages include a pre-wedding call, a written music brief, and a DJ who actually cares how the night goes.
How it Works
Tell me your date, venue, and a bit about the kind of night you're after. A quick call or WhatsApp works best.
I'll ask about your guests, your vibe, your absolute must-plays and hard passes. The more I know, the better the night.
A simple booking agreement and deposit to secure your date. From there, it's on me — you've got enough to think about.
I show up, set up quietly, and spend the rest of the evening making sure the floor doesn't empty until the venue throws me out.
Kind Words
He read the room better than any DJ we'd ever seen. By 10pm nobody was sitting down. Our guests are still talking about it.
